Day 47 of my Great Himalayan Journey took me from Lopshang to Kashigaun, and this day became one of the most memorable parts of my entire trek.
The trail was steep, long, and exhausting reaching the Gurung village near Kashigaun was not easy. But the struggle was worth it. The village sat in a beautiful location surrounded by mountains, silence, and pure Himalayan air.
On the way, I met a Gurung uncle who noticed I was walking alone and tired. Without any hesitation, he offered me a place to stay in his home. That simple act of kindness turned a difficult day into an unforgettable night.
Inside their home, I experienced the warmth of Gurung hospitality simple food, soft conversations, and a peaceful night in the mountains. The Gurung people may not be physically strong, but their kindness and heart are unshakable.
This is what the Himalayas truly are:
