In the early ’70s, a Keralite named Peter Kumar murdered a woman and her 5-year-old daughter, in whose house he worked as a domestic servant, hid their bodies in a wooden trunk and ran away with their gold ornaments while the husband was out of the state on a business trip. He was later arrested, tried, and sentenced to be hung till death. A gallows was specially built to hang him. And his hanging created headlines all over the world. Goans thought this would deter others from committing similar crimes.
But the years between 1977 to 1980 saw a spurt in crimes and murders in Goa. Notorious among them was the shooting of Adam and Tulsi on the Miramar beach, the murder of a woman at Cansaulim, the alleged murder of a girl at Mapusa, the twin murders by Johnny and Kistu at Tivim and the most notorious being the murder of six members of a family at Cupa, Santo Estevam by Constantin.
A number of songs were sung on this issue in Konkani Tiatrs. Today, we bring to you, one of the songs that were composed and sung by Rom-Rem-Rod in 1981. The song is from the archival memory of Roger Fernandes from St.Estevam.
