Relaxing and Peaceful Instrumental Tour of Beautiful Bald Head Island, North Carolina

We had the privilege of visiting one of our favorite places this past March over Spring Break, the amazing island of Bald Head just off the North Carolina coast. We are so thankful to have family there to visit and a bit spoiled! Join me as I take you through a relaxed tour beginning at the Deep Point Marina & Yacht Club in Southport, NC where we board the ferry. We begin the 2 mile trek across the channel over to the island which takes about 20 minutes. The island is exclusively golf carts with the exception of work vehicles, which makes it an even more magical place to visit.

I take you through the beautiful Harbour Village which is filled with gorgeous homes and tropical gardens overflowing with palms, Indian Hawthorne shrubs, and charming arbors covered in beautiful evergreen vines everywhere you look. I visit the infamous Old Baldy Lighthouse built in 1817, which is an iconic symbol of the island. We make sure to take the climb every time we visit! We take a peek at the community gardens that are planted up with produce for the season and cared for by local residents. I take you into the Maritime Forest and capture the beauty of the oldest tree on Bald Head, a 300 year old Live Oak. The island is covered in beautiful, sprawling Live Oak trees. I love exploring the trails meandering through these beautiful forests.

One of my favorite spots to visit is the Maritime Market and all of the surrounding stores. Of course, you have to be prepared to take everything back on your golf cart or bicycle! In the market area you can also find a collection of fire pits and tiki torches to relax and unwind beside. One of our lunches was at the Jailhouse Provisions Restaurant right around the corner from the Market. Their food was delicious and the container collection outside filled with beautiful perennials and annuals was amazing! One of our favorite beaches to visit on the island is the East Beach. It is a sprawling beach with soft, white sand and can be a great spot for surfing and body boarding.

Just behind the East Beach area are lush forested areas and beautiful homes graced with arbors, palms, and the iconic sprawling Live Oaks. Tucked even further back in is a neighborhood with a secret feel named Keeper's Landing. After entering through the archway that connects two homes you are met with a quaint and quiet area and to my surprise was filled with beautiful blooming redbuds! I enjoyed finding a nature trail that led me to a beautiful boardwalk overlooking the marsh graced with gorgeous, tall palms.

The island is filled with so much beauty it is so hard to capture it all and is definitely best explored in person but I hope this little slice of this amazing island getaway leaves you feeling refreshed and inspired! Enjoy!
