you’re the reason i’ve been going to college for my commercial music associate’s. you made me believe in myself, become enamored with harmonies & little instrumental intricacies. you’re the reason i knew what falling in love would sound like, & when i fell in love with vincent, it all made more sense. you made me feel less alone & okay with being more introverted.

i spent quarantine diving into beach boys music for hours, learning everything i could, playing “surf’s up” on my keyboard (tutorial from a beach boys friend & listening to it on repeat.

from inspiring my degree to pushing me to do a midsummer night’s dream (where i played “surf’s up” before shows), to making a soundcloud of beach boys covers i gave vincent before we started dating, to him playing all of pet sounds for me after work one night, to seeing you in person, to the beach boys being our first concert, to my boss playing beach boys at trader joe’s because i asked, your music shaped my life.

my heart hurts knowing my music idol is gone, but there’s peace knowing you’re with dennis, carl & melinda again. i know you missed them. sending love to brian’s family, his friends, the kind & supportive beach boys community on here, & fans everywhere. i hope brian’s loved ones feel the outpour of love from all of us.

for as long as i live, i will never forget you, & i will make sure that people don’t. your legacy of love will live for eternity, countless generations will continue to be inspired by you, just like i have. i have always held on to the hope i’d get to see you one last time with vincent, or get the chance to meet you. i hope i make you proud one day.
