On a dazzling night in Edinburgh Castle in 2017, high atop the Scottish capital, we were fortunate to witness Japanese singer Michiko Matsunaga offer a brilliant rendition of Jewish-Canadian troubadour Leonard Cohen‘s 'Hallelujah', accompanied by massed bands from around the world. It would be nice to think that more of our military budgets could be spent on events as creative, inclusive and uplifting as this.
