Guitarist Christopher Woitach and trombonist John Moak are a distinctive jazz duo based in the Pacific Northwest, known for their inventive interplay between trombone and guitar. Their collaboration blends traditional jazz with modern improvisation, offering audiences a fresh take on familiar standards and original compositions.

Christopher Woitach is a versatile jazz guitarist and composer residing in Portland, Oregon. His musical journey spans various styles, from Dixieland to free jazz, ragtime to bebop. Woitach’s compositions reflect his diverse musical tastes and abilities, combining the intricacies of baroque counterpoint with the freedom of modern jazz. He is also an educator and has been involved in various musical projects, including his quartet with Moak featuring pedal steel guitar.

John Moak is an integral part of the Northwest music scene, with over three decades of professional experience. He has performed with symphony orchestras, ballets, Broadway musicals, big bands, Dixieland bands, and various jazz groups. Moak has shared the stage with notable jazz artists such as Dave Brubeck, Branford Marsalis, Doc Severinsen, and Rosemary Clooney .
Together, Moak and Woitach have performed at various venues, including the INHOUSE Jazz concert series, Corkscrew Wine Bar in Portland, and 2020-2021 livestream “The World Famous Silver Lining Livestream”. Their performances are characterized by an intimate atmosphere, allowing audiences to experience the nuanced interplay between trombone and guitar.
