Well folks, this is the first video in the series of live field recordings that I have been working on for the past few months. Meet Lyle de Vitry, a walking instrument, carved by a family of musicians and an undying love for all things melodic. Lyle and I became fast friends here in Asheville. He has a warmth and energy to him that is both genuine and unique. His songs can take you from a homesick longing look through a rainy window to a distant trail in a thick forest. He is a master of melody and his poetry is visual and tasty.
This song that he wrote is called The Wild. It's a very catchy tune with a driving guitar and warm vocals. When we drove out to the woods to make this recording we were greeted by a young black bear. We both took it as a great sign, the wild was welcoming us in. This won't be the last time you see Lyle in this collection!
