Isla Gigantes, a remote island group off the northeastern coast of Iloilo, is a true hidden gem known for its breathtaking natural wonders, particularly its stunning beaches, unique rock formations, and abundant seafood. Three of its most famous attractions are Tangke Lagoon, Little Boracay, and Bantigue Sandbar.
Tangke Lagoon
Tucked within the towering limestone cliffs of Isla Gigantes Sur, Tangke Lagoon is a serene saltwater pool often hailed as Iloilo's "hidden paradise." The name "Tangke" means "tank" in Filipino, referring to the natural basin surrounded by dramatic rock walls. The lagoon's calm, emerald-green waters provide a perfect, protected area for swimming, a stark contrast to the strong waves of the open sea outside. Visitors can access the lagoon by navigating a narrow passage between the cliffs. At high tide, the lagoon fills up, creating a deep and refreshing swimming spot, while at low tide, the water level recedes. The dramatic scenery and tranquil atmosphere make it a favorite for photography and relaxation.
Little Boracay
Little Boracay offers a slice of the famous Boracay Island experience with its own unique charm. It features a picturesque white-sand beach and stunningly clear turquoise waters. The island provides a perfect place to relax on the fine sand, swim in the calm sea, and enjoy the tropical scenery. It is a popular stop on island-hopping tours for its beautiful and peaceful ambiance, living up to its nickname by providing the iconic white-sand beach vibe.

Bantigue Sandbar
Bantigue Sandbar is a natural wonder that changes with the tides, a long stretch of fine, white sand that emerges from the sea at low tide. This ephemeral sand formation is a spectacular sight, offering a unique opportunity to walk in the middle of the ocean. The shape of the sandbar is constantly shifting, influenced by the currents and seasons. While the sand may be coarser than other beaches in the area, the sandbar is an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, taking incredible photos, and wading in the shallow, emerald-green waters that surround it. The island is also a common lunch stop for tour boats, where visitors can enjoy fresh and incredibly affordable seafood, especially scallops, which are a local specialty.
