How To Use A Filter Cleaner in a Sand Filter, Sand Filter Part 5

In this video I show you how to use a Filter Cleaner/Degreaser in your Sand Filter. You will need this product if your pool gets heavy usage as Sun Tan Lotion and body lotions tend not to break down and get expelled when you backwash your Sand Filter. If you notice that the filter seems to be struggling after you backwash it try a filter cleaner in it.

The manufacturer recommends you do this at least once a year. In the filter I used it in it seemed to help a lot. You can also add a bit of D.E. filter element in between backwashing cycles as the D.E. will also help improve sand filter filtration. Add D.E. until the pressure gauge goes up by 1 PSI and then stop. That is a good amount.
