New border posts to drive economic growth

MANICALAND Province has identified two areas to set up new border posts on the Zimbabwean-Mozambican borderline, in a move that is expected to improve trade and movement of people between the two sister republics.
The proposed border posts, Katiyo in Honde Valley and Cashel Valley in Chimanimani, are expected to ease pressure on the now congested Forbes Border Post in Mutare. They will also reduce the distance to the Sea Port of Beira by significant kilometres, helping exporting companies to cut on costs.
Katiyo Border Post will mainly serve horticultural companies operating in Honde Valley, Nyanga and Makoni, such as Eastern Highlands Plantation and Cicada Katiyo among others that produce tea, avocados, macadamia and bananas
