With our victories against our archrival Pokémon Trainer and Ansem Seeker of Darkness complete, our third Throwback Thursday project is slated to begin and boy do I have a doozy picked for this one. Considered by many one of the quintessential platformers of the 1990s, Super Mario 64 was state of the art when it first came out in 1996. It had its own solid camera that could either help guide you or directly keep itself behind Mario as needed, 15 unique worlds with coins and stars to collect and some very solid controls. Nowadays, the game gets picked apart constantly for it's control locks, it's ancient camera (in comparison to later Mario Games) and its thoroughly lacking story. But it remains a staple of many people's childhood and adolescence.
Whereas in my first playthrough, I only got 90ish of the potential 120 Stars, in this run, I will be gunning for every single Star in the game, including the ones from the worlds I really REALLY don't like, like Tick Tock Clock and Shifting Sand Land. It will be the next in a line of challenges I'm planning to make our Throwback Thursday projects stand out from the original LPs, which will continue as we progress through additional LPs. And since I'm using the Super Mario 3D All Stars version, I won't have Save States to fall back on, which makes this even harder. And all I have to say is bring it on!
I HATE TICK TOCK CLOCK!!!!!
