The start of the 2010’s were an interesting point in Power Rangers history. Disney had just canceled the show after 2009’s RPM in favor of Marvel, their work in progress new superhero brand.

But, Bandai, the toymaker at the time, wasn’t ready to the show that they have been with since birth to be over. So, they reached a deal to make a reversion of select episodes of season one of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to be aired on ABC Kids, with Bandai making the toys.

However, Bandai didn’t think this was good for the long term, as to how Power Rangers worked was a new toyline every year, so they could only milk the Mighty Morphin name for so long. So, if Disney didn’t continue the show, Bandai was gonna do it themselves.
