I got WET because I wanted to see the CNY Parade in Manhattan's Chinatown!!

We FINALLY made it to the LARGEST CHINATOWN in the US!!!

Manhattan's Chinatown emerged in the mid-19th century as Chinese immigrants, initially drawn by the California Gold Rush and railroad construction, sought refuge from discrimination on the West Coast and opportunities in Eastern cities. They settled in Lower Manhattan, particularly around Mott Street, forming a tight-knit community despite facing challenges like the restrictive Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.

Despite these obstacles, the community flourished, establishing businesses like hand laundries and restaurants, as well as social societies and cultural organizations that provided vital support. The repeal of exclusionary laws in 1965 led to a new wave of immigration, causing Chinatown to expand significantly and become a major cultural hub. Today, it remains a vibrant neighborhood that blends its rich history with modern influences.

My honest feedback:

Manhattan's Chinatown was awesome!! It had A LOT of delicious food, gambling uncles, Chinese associations, and TONS of life!! Being the most massive Chinatown in the US, there were a lot of areas to explore as well! The only thing I absolutely hated was how they didn't have any Chinatown Gates...

As for the parade...it was mostly just folks walking (or floats), and it wasn't as impressive as the CNY parade in San Francisco (us San Franciscans have it gooooood). Maybe it was due to the frigid and wet conditions, so MAJOR props to all those who got soaked to entertain the crowd!
