In 1985 Chinese Taipei competed in their first ever the Gothenburg World Team Championships finishing first in Category 2 in both the Mens and Womens events. Shortly after they visited the Bolton in the North of England and competed in two representative matches against a North of England side consisting of Donald Parker, Steve Turner, Steve Mills, Nigel Eckersley, Stephen Scowcroft, Joy Grundy and Jean Parker.
Joy Grundy was a top England player winning the National Singles and Doubles titles in 1986 and being ranked as high as number 2 in England. Joy is another player who started her development under the tutelage of Jim Clegg in Preston. Joy stopped playing in her early twenties, just a few years after this was filmed.
