This is such a classic Flea basspart!! It’s got melody; groove; slides; hammer on and pull off notes; chords etc etc!

The song starts with the beautiful melodic lick with the triplet hammer on notes. And I like the way Flea plays the question-answer, where bars 1-2 are the question and bars 3-4 (especially 4) is the answer.

In the interlude there are beautiful double notes (bar 15 and 17). The rhythmic challenge starts in the pre-chorus (bar 25), with a beautiful slide in bar 28.

The rest in the basspart is in the Chorus where Flea plays a lot of quarter notes.

And of course there are these beautiful chords which Flea plays in the Solo part (bar 89 and further).

I play this song on a Jacaranda bass with roundwound strings. Although this is a 5-string bass, I only use 4 strings (E-A-D-G). Standard tuning. No effects used except a bit compression and a pre-amp.
