Manoj Kumar was born on 24 July 1937 in a Brahmin family in Abbottabad, a city in Pakistan. Manoj and Shashi got married. From whom he had two sons named Kunal and Vishal Goswami. After watching Dilip Kumar's film Shabnam, he changed his name from Harikishan Giri to Manoj Kumar. Then his graduation was completed and at the age of 20 he reached the Maya city Mumbai. Manoj Kumar did his first film 'Fashion' in the year 1957. Acted in the film 'Hariyali Aur Raasta' released in 1962. Manoj Kumar's luck shone with this film. Manoj Kumar appeared as a lead actor in the film Kanch Ki Gudiya. He has worked in 54 films in his career.
After this, in the year 1964, his another superhit film ‘Woh Kaun Thi’ came. In 1965 itself, his another film ‘Shaheed’ came. He was seen in the role of a farmer in his 1967 film 'Upkaar'. Manoj Kumar also directed many films in his career, which include films like Jai Hind, Clerk, Kranti, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Shor, Purab Aur Paschim and Upkar. Manoj Kumar received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film 'Beimaan' in 1972 and the Filmfare Award for Best Director for the film 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan' in 1975. After this, in the year 1992, he was also honored with the Padmashree Award. In the year 2016, Manoj Kumar was also given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Today Manoj Kumar is 86 years old, has bid farewell to his film career and lives with his family.
