I go over all the upgrades I did to this US military S788 Type 1 Shelter which sits atop a M101A1 military trailer. The Type 1 shelter is the version that fits in a HMMWV, but does not have a generator tunnel. This was the version I wanted because I wanted more interior space so I could sleep three adults.
Weight:
Type I - 608 lbs.
Walls have an insulating R-value of 2, which is about the same as a solid core home door.
Roof Load:
Snow and Ice - 40 lbs./sq. ft.
Personnel and Equipment - 660 lbs. over a 2 sq. ft. area
Payload: 3,300 lbs.
Floor Loads:
Uniform - 65 lbs./sq. ft.
Concentrated - 1000 lbs. over a 2 sq. ft. area
Point Load - 125 lbs. over a 1 sq. in. area
Temperature Extremes:
Non-operating: -80° F to +160° F
Heat Tranfer:
Type I - 0.50 BTU/hr./sq. ft./° F
RFI Shielding: Attenuation of 60 dB minimum over 150 kHz to 10 GHz for electric and magnetic fields and plane waves measured IAW MIL-STD-285
Watertightness: Tested to 30 inch fording depth and to simulated rainfall
