 Freya Allan, who plays Ciri in Netflix's The Witcher, reveals that she almost quit the show after Henry Cavill's exit. In October 2022, Cavill announced he would be leaving the series after season 3 and that Liam Hemsworth would be taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia.  While speaking with NME, Allan opened up about the challenges of Cavi''s exit, which she only learned of one day before the news became public and while she was filming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. She wanted to finish the series with Cavill, but his departure raised questions about her own future. Check out her comments below:  For "a solid amount of time," Allan considered leaving the show as well, until she decided that she wanted to finish the journey she had started with Ciri.  The transition from Cavill to Hemsworth in The Witcher season 4 was further complicated by the fact that Ciri and Geralt are separated for the entire season, except for some flashbacks and visions. Allan admitted that "It was very weird" and in all the scenes where Ciri is thinking about Geralt, she was thinking about Cavill: "He’s the Geralt I grew up with."  Henry Cavill's exit from The Witcher led to significant backlash from fans, and this response may have been further exacerbated if Allan left the series as well. Geralt and Ciri are at the heart of the story, and getting used to new actors for both characters would have been more difficult than just getting used to Hemsworth.  Instead, Allan remains a fixture of The Witcher season 4's cast and continues growing with the character that she has played since season 1. She also appears briefly in The Rats: A Witcher Tale, a spinoff film that was quietly released on Netflix alongside season 4.  With The Witcher season 5 confirmed to be the end of the series, and filming having already wrapped, Allan has fulfilled the promise she made to herself and seen through the rest of Ciri's journey. In Cavill's absence, she embodied the example he set to deliver a story faithful to the source material, and letting showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich know when she wanted moments from the books to be included.  The Witcher season 5 is now in post-production and expected to debut in 2026.
