Ford Focus O2Sensor Upstream replacement:
Replacing the upstream O2 sensor on a Ford Focus involves locating the sensor near the exhaust manifold, disconnecting its electrical connector (often requiring removal of the airbox/cowl), using a specialized O2 sensor socket (like 22mm or 7/8") with extensions to unscrew the old sensor (apply penetrant first!), hand-tightening the new one, applying anti-seize, reconnecting the plug securely, and finally clearing any codes.
Tools & Parts Needed
New Upstream O2 Sensor (Motorcraft recommended for quality)
O2 Sensor Socket (Slotted)
Socket Wrench & Extensions (Long/Short)
Breaker Bar (Optional, for stubborn sensors)
Gloves, Safety Glasses
Anti-seize Compound
