Russian premier Medvedev arrives for talks with Chinese counterpart Li

(22 Oct 2013) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev met his Chinese counterpart in Beijing on Tuesday as part of a two-day visit to China to boost bilateral ties.
Medvedev and Li attended a grand ceremony outside the Great Hall of the People before holding talks.
They were expected to discuss bilateral co-operation in the economy, trade and cultural exchange, as well as exchange views on major political affairs, Chinese state media Xinhua reported on Tuesday, citing Russia's ambassador to China, Andrei Denisov.
Medvedev and Li will have in-depth discussions on topics including energy, investment and co-operation at the local level, Xinhua reported.
A number of key bilateral deals are expected to be signed during Medvedev's visit.
Medvedev will also meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.
During Xi's visit to Russia in March, the two countries agreed to boost their annual trade volume to 100 (b) billion US dollars by 2015 and 200 (b) billion dollars by 2020.
Medvedev is also set to visit the city of Hefei, in eastern China's Anhui Province, where he will meet with students and faculty members of Chinese University of Science and Technology.
