È stato scoperta dal cantautore Eugene Raskin, che ha scritto il testo più noto in inglese (Quelli erano i giorni 1963). It was discovered Eugene Raskin, who wrote the best-known text in English (Those were the days 1963). In 1968, singer Mary Hopkin recorded it with a different arrangement than Raskin's and it was phenomenally successful in sales and critics. Hopkin was followed by dozens of versions by many artists in many languages. It's one of the most iconic songs of the 20th century. Gigliola Cinquetti's interpretations in Italian and Spanish, are among the most admired outside the UK and have become genuine classic gems.
