Sapna Parikh, MD, MPH, is an award-winning journalist, artist, environmentalist, and visual storyteller working on both sides of the camera.
She launched her career as a health reporter for CBS New York before becoming the medical correspondent for FOX and ABC News in New York City. As a freelance host and writer for Seeker by The Verge (Discovery News), Sapna created engaging short-form episodes on science and human physiology.
Serving as the first Visual Storytelling Director at NYU and UC San Diego, Sapna leads end-to-end production. She created, hosted, produced, and edited the "Brainiacs" research video series, the "Pop Quiz" trivia show, and the Commencement Preshow at Yankee Stadium.
Her Emmy-nominated enterprise reports include an exclusive interview with NASA astronauts during a training mission inside Aquarius, the only undersea research laboratory in the world. An advanced PADI-certified scuba diver and NOLS-certified Wilderness First Responder, Sapna is dedicated to exploring and protecting the planet.
She was also a 2024 award winner of the National Academies' Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications, which honor exceptional science communicators, journalists, and research scientists who have developed creative, original work to communicate issues and advances in science, engineering, or medicine for the general public.
