Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department battle older, stubborn, two story house

JFRD responds to a large two story residence that was old construction which presented obstacles for crews on the inside...balloon framing, hidden stairwells, tattered stairwells along with holes in the second floor flooring...add to that an high fire load of contents.

Command made the decision early on to pull crews out of the structure and fighting this defensively. There also was enough concern for command to call a second alarm for the safety of the crews. You can see in the video the amount of water that was flowing...but as we hit the fire from the outside, the fire would find escape routes to spread elsewhere...so a lot of back and fourth was inevitable.
