About “Colors/Dance” :
George Winston composed “Colors/Dance” in 1973, several years before his breakthrough as a recording artist. It began as two separate ideas—“Colors,” a reflective meditation inspired by the vivid changes of autumn, and “Dance,” a rhythmic, upbeat section that grew out of his explorations on solo piano. Winston eventually wove them together into one continuous piece, creating a contrast between stillness and motion that would become a hallmark of his style. The piece went through years of refinement in live performances before being recorded in 1979, and it remains one of his most enduring original works.

About Autumn:
Released in 1980 and produced by William Ackerman, Autumn was recorded on June 19 and 20, 1980. Engineered by Harn Soper with mastering by Bernie Grundman, the album is shaped as two seasonal suites titled September and October. It became George Winston’s breakthrough, introducing his rural folk piano to a much wider audience. The record captures the changing light and mood of the season through spacious, lyrical solo piano and remains a cornerstone of contemporary instrumental music for listeners seeking reflection and calm.
