Several weeks ago I went for a drive State side and made my way to the Abandoned Rochester Subway System. Opening for public service in 1919 the underground transit way served the citizens of Rochester New York until 1956 when it ceased operation.
This is an Urban Explorers paradise and has been well travelled by many many adventurers, some I met on my way.
The structure remains very much intact and as I walked through the tunnel I could think of so many uses for the massive space. Graffiti artists have claimed the walls and pillars as their canvas which might be one of the coolest things about this explore.
This explore made me realise that even with my high end flashlights, I needed more lumens to show the full experience. I edited much of the darkest areas out because there was just not a lot to see. I also travelled a portion of the tunnel with 3 guys who were without a flashlight but were just as curious as I was to enter the dark tunnel.
After my explore of the very cool location I treated myself to beer and bbq at Dinosaur BBQ which sits at the mouth of the tunnel.
