Milan Township, MI: Monthly testing of the outdoor warning/tornado sirens in Monroe County Michigan on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM. This Whelen 3016 is located near the intersection of Ostrander Road and Ann Arbor Road. The 3016 unfortunately has a busted rotator, but like the other Whelens in Monroe County is running with Federal controls and sounds pre-test messages, alert, and post test messages.
Some general information on Monroe County's System:
The Federal Signal 2001-SRNs in the Monroe area are used to alert for both weather and emergencies at the Fermi II Nuclear Powerplant in nearby Frenchtown Township. Monroe County also has a series of Voice/Alert sirens scattered through the remainder of the county. Bedford Township has their own system of 2001s, but tests with the county.
