Exploring Non Daeng

Our adventure takes us to two special temples: Non Daeng and Phu Kradueng. We’ve been to Non Daeng many times before, but it keeps changing and getting better! It’s amazing to see how much this temple has grown in such a short time. What makes it so special isn’t just how new it is, but the beautiful surroundings and the cool design. When you walk in, you can really feel something special in the air.

Last March, we went there for a 10-day meditation retreat. Back then, the temple didn’t have any windows, and the surrounding apron was still rough. It felt more natural and simple, which I really liked. But now, with all the new features, it feels more finished and complete. After checking out all the new stuff, we went to visit Father Abbot, who was living in a small house on stilts on some new land. We had a nice chat, and he invited us to a gathering of monks at a temple in Phu Kradueng the next morning.

Our Journey to Phu Kradueng

This is where our second story begins! We woke up super early, around 4:00 AM, and drove to Phu Kradueng. When we got there, the alms giving ceremony was already happening. There were at least 50 monks lined up to receive food from the people. We joined a group from Non Daeng to take part in this special event. It’s such a cool experience, and I love being a part of it!

After the alms giving, we moved inside the temple, which had a really tall roof, kind of like Non Daeng. We joined in the ceremony and prayers, which lasted about an hour. It felt peaceful and nice to be there.

When the prayers were done, it was time for breakfast! They had set up a big buffet, and everyone was really hungry and excited to eat.

Finally, it was time to say goodbye and head back home. We had two amazing days visiting old friends and discovering new treasures!
