This is the aria 'O tu che in seno agli angli' from the opera 'La forza del destino' by Giuseppe Verdi.
Originally recorded with Caruso 6th of November 1909 and "ruined" with new orchestration in Vienna around 1995.

Although I personally prefer the most "original" recordings available, the old shellacs (78's), I can see from the statistics that YT users below a certain age (45 or so - i.e. the majority) would rather listen to recordings without the inevitable scratches of the old recordings...
It is my hope that I can introduce Caruso to these people with the digital remasterings - and that they thus will be willing to listen to this marvellous voice in all it glory in the original recordings.
