Maramures, Painted Monasteries & Muddy Volcanoes | TRAVEL Romania

Join us on our travel adventures around Europe! We finish up our time in Romania with some major highlights of the Maramures region, the Painted Monasteries of Bucovina, and the unique Muddy Volcanoes National Park!

One of our first stops in the Maramures region was to the beautiful Merry Cemetery, located in Săpânța in northern Romania. Merry Cemetery is famous for its brightly coloured tombstones and has been listed as one of the Seven Wonders of Romania.

We head over to the region of Bucovina to visit several of the historic painted monasteries. On this trip we visited the painted monasteries of Sucevita, Humor, and Voronet.

We finish our time with a visit to the unique Muddy Volcanoes National Park where we hiked among the several mud volcanoes popular in Romania!
