LONESOME FRIDAYS 8/ - Things In Life

Here's Things In Life, written by Don Stover who was an incredible and underappreciated banjo player with Bill Monroe, the Lilly Brothers & Tex Logan and others. I realized I don't think I've done this song since the last trip I took before the pandemic shutdown, which was to Fort Leavenworth in Kansas with AITAF (Arts in the Armed Forces). I and an amazing bunch of actors performed for MPs as well as inmates in the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks (Army jail), some of whom were there on life sentences. I thought the philosophical nature of this song fit the situation better than most in my repertoire - it's both mournful and hopeful, and grapples with what are lives are supposed to be about without being overly dour.

I'm looking forward to some holiday time with my family in Georgia and I hope you also get to be with loved ones here at the end of the year.
