Removing pedal from your practice actually fixes remarkably little about your music and performance, especially if removed for the wrong reasons and in the wrong passages. Everyone gets told to omit pedal to work on a whole variety of stuff. Even I, as a student, was told this. But in reality, any teacher that says this is taking the easy way out of a difficult teaching moment and leaving you, the student, probably practicing in the wrong ways. In this video we tackle this controversial the issue head on, and I give two very in-depth examples from Chopin and Grieg.
