Unseasonable Gusty Winds in Tracy, CA (August 28, 2010)

After a brief heat wave, or 'Indian summer' that baked California on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 24-25, 2010), an unseasonable low pressure system came down from the Gulf of Alaska and brought unusually cool weather. In this instance, the temperature at Tracy, CA was only a high of 75. Just 3 days before, it was a high of 107!

So in this video, it shows the windstorm that I encountered during my visit here at Tracy, CA. Winds were coming from the west at around 20-30 mph with possibly higher gusts. Trees were bending all over the city as we drove around, even spotting a couple wind damage to one small tree and one large tree. While on the freeway, we can literally feel the car move due to the winds. There were also cool looking clouds in the skies, called Lenticular clouds. After almost an hour or so, we head back to the residential area. While driving back to the house, at about @2:42 in the video, we quickly spotted a large tree completely split in half! It covered half of the road.

It was already late in the afternoon and the winds appeared to be getting stronger still! More lenticular clouds were forming south of us, over the mountain range of Altamont Pass. Birds were seen as well fighting against the winds. It's amazing how the weather can change from a heat wave to downright cool weather conditions, typically what we see in late October! Near the end, it shows a lovely sight with sun rays shining through the marine layer/coastal low clouds. Hope you guys enjoy the video!
