Finally...finally...finally... I was able to hike to the tallest peak in the state of Utah. It's located in the heart of the Uinta Mountains and it between 25-29 miles round-trip, depending on which route you take.
Most YouTube videos showcase this hike in a one-day version. This hike and video is doing it in 2 days. I cover what we brought and record basically everything from start to summit and back down.
It is a hike I would do again. It's quite long and near the end the backpacks are digging into your shoulders a bit, but with the right planning, map and gps, you can have a successful trip too.
We lucked out weather-wise as it only rained the 1st day for maybe 20 minutes. The 2nd was blue-sky all around and was darn-near perfect. No wind, not hot, just perfect. Other trips may not be as fortunate as ours as I have seen people hike in the snow, extreme wind, and non-stop hail and rain. And hiking to the summit in the rain or where thunderclouds are near is extremely discouraged. You are the tallest thing up and lightning will find ya. That's why it also important to summit early as storms can building in the early afternoon and you will definitely want to be off the summit by then.
Otherwise, enjoy the vid and learn a thing or too and enjoy and views! We definitely did!
