In this vlog, we explore Pattadakal and Aihole, two of the most important heritage sites of Karnataka and a treasure for lovers of history and architecture.
Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcases the perfect blend of North Indian Nagara and South Indian Dravidian temple architecture built during the Chalukya dynasty. From the majestic Virupaksha Temple to the beautifully carved stone sculptures and monolithic pillars, every structure reflects incredible craftsmanship from over a thousand years ago.
Aihole, often called the birthplace of Indian temple architecture, is where early architectural experiments were carried out. With more than 100 ancient temples, cave shrines, inscriptions, and settlement remains, Aihole feels like an open-air museum of India’s architectural evolution.
Walking through these timeless sites was an unforgettable experience — peaceful, powerful, and humbling. Seeing such magnificent art partially destroyed over time also makes you reflect on the value of preserving our heritage.
