Throughout Scripture, the wilderness is not a place of abandonment, but a place of preparation.
God led Israel into the wilderness before the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 8:2), not to destroy them, but to mold, and to bring out any impurities in hearts. The wilderness reveals what prosperity often hides.
In the wilderness, God removes human support so that His voice becomes clear. Israel had no farms, no rivers, no armies, only God. Daily manna taught them dependence (Exodus 16:4), and the pillar of cloud and fire reminded them that even in barrenness, God was present and guiding.
If you find yourself in a wilderness season right now, be encouraged. God has not stepped away; He is right there with you🫂
