Zhaklina - Edhe Une Jam Shqiptar

Zhaklinë is an Albanian born in Italy but raised in Albania through her teenage years, and then uprooted her life to start living in the United States in Virginia in a small town. She talks about her experience and how it was for her to live in a town with no Albanians and even no international students, most of them Americans and how she adapted to life there, how she then won a full scholarship and moved to Boston and what she misses more about Albania and the Albanian lifestyle.

This story is part of the “Edhe unë jam shqiptar” project, sharing experiences of the Albanian diaspora and how identity, culture, and migration shape a new generation.
