از نظر پیدایش و نسبتشون با گروههای قومی و زبانی، مرزها چهار نوع اصلی دارن:
۱ .مرزهای پیش از سکونت
مرزهایی که قبل از استقرار گسترده جمعیت کشیده شدن.
مثال معروفش: مرز آمریکا و کانادا روی مدار ۴۹ درجه عرض شمالی.
۲ .مرزهای تطبیقی
بعد از شکلگیری اقوام و زبان ها تعیین شدن و با بافت جمعیت هماهنگان.
مثال: مرز ایرلند شمالی و جمهوری ایرلند.
۳ .مرزهای تحمیلی
مرزهایی که قدرتهای خارجی بدون توجه به مردم محلی ترسیم کردن.
مثال: توافق سایکس–پیکو که مرزهای عراق، سوریه و لبنان امروزی رو ساخت.
۴ .مرزهای متروکه
مرزهایی که دیگه کارکرد سیاسی ندارن، اما اثرشون باقی مونده.
مثال: دیوار برلین در آلمان.
پس مرزها فقط خطوط خشک روی نقشه نیستن؛ هر کدومشون داستانی دارن از تاریخ، سیاست و ملتها.

Borders are invisible lines that separate us — where one nation’s authority ends, and another begins.
From a historical and cultural point of view, borders fall into four main categories:
1️⃣ Antecedent Borders — drawn before large populations settled.
Example: the U.S.–Canada border along the 49th parallel north.
2️⃣ Subsequent Borders — formed after ethnic and linguistic groups took shape, aligning with them.
Example: the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
3️⃣ Superimposed Borders — imposed by foreign powers with little regard for local people.
Example: the Sykes–Picot Agreement, which created the modern borders of Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
4️⃣ Relict Borders — no longer politically active but still leaving a mark.
Example: the Berlin Wall in Germany.
So borders aren’t just cold lines on a map
