My goal here is to compare the DJI O4 Pro camera to GoPro, with both cameras set to optimal settings for cinematic video, and with the least amount of post-processing for better comparison. I used my GoPro 11 Mini because that’s the action camera I prefer, since I tend to fly smaller quads. For these shots I was flying the AxisFlying Manta 3.6” which I upgraded to O4 from the O3 version.
You may also be interested in my other O4 Pro video (with more downloadable sample footage) where I go more in-depth in color grading and detailing the best camera settings for cinematic video:

(The .SRT files record the camera settings used by the O4.)
For both the DJI O4 Pro and the GoPro 11, all camera settings were set to manual, with locked white balance of 5500K. I used the flattest color profile I could (D-Log m and flat color), and used the highest resolution possible (4k and 5.3k) and the tallest aspect ration (4:3 and 8:7 when possible). I didn’t add any stabilization for this comparison. I also used the lowest sharpening settings for both cameras, and I lowered the noise reduction -1 for the DJI O4 Pro. I used ND filters to keep the shutter speed around the 180 degree rule, trying to keep both cameras at a similar exposure. Exact settings are shown in the video. You’ll notice there’s some vignetting in the O4 Pro footage from the Avata 2 ND filters that I used. Presumably ND filters made specifically for the O4 Pro will be better, but that vignetting won't show up after stabilization is added, or after the footage is cropped for 16:9 or 9:16.
I'm curious what you think (let me know in the comments), but my conclusion is that the DJI O4 Pro is in most cases just as good as the GoPro 11. I do prefer the 8:7 aspect ratio of the GoPro, and I still feel like the GoPro colors and dynamic range are ever so slightly better, but I don’t think most people would notice the difference, and I definitely feel like the advantages of using DJI O4 Pro FAR out way the slight advantage of the GoPro. With O3 I found myself missing the GoPro when I didn’t use it, but I don’t think that will be the case with O4 Pro.
