Hyderabad is set to witness a game-changing metro rail expansion with the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) Metro Project, aimed at providing seamless 360-degree metro connectivity around the city. To address growing traffic congestion and rising urban population, the Telangana Government plans to build a circular metro corridor along the 158 km ORR.

As per official announcements, the ORR Metro will feature 22 interchange metro stations (likely to increase to 25 in the future), strategically placed at ORR junctions. This will allow commuters from suburban and peripheral areas to access the city without entering congested core zones, significantly reducing traffic, travel time, and vehicle pollution.

One of the biggest advantages of the ORR Metro is that no land acquisition is required, as 25 meters of space was already reserved along the ORR service road. This enables faster execution of the project. Each metro station will include large parking facilities, skywalk connectivity, and integration with railway stations, promoting park-and-ride travel.

With the government ordering the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), this project is expected to reshape Hyderabad’s urban mobility, boost real estate development along ORR, and elevate the city to global transportation standards.
