An instrumental of a truly great rock song 'Uma Thurman' by Fall Out Boy using that wonderful riff from The Munsters TV theme. I had edited this sequence to an Icehouse 1986 track 'Baby You're So Strange' but now decided to use the newer rock song to create the mood piece with images from the 60's cult series. In the 1960's and 1970's there were conventional Mums for role modelling like Carol Brady and Shirley Partridge but likewise I was influenced as a teen by the quirky goddesses who played Lily Munster and Morticia Addams: Yvonne De Carlo and Carolyn Jones. These two wonderful actresses created such distinct women and legendary small screen figures that it is hard to imagine their respective TV shows without them embodying the oddness and charm that they imbued them with. Both De Carlo and Jones had successful movie careers before they were household names thanks to their cult comedy series. Both immensely beautiful, they didn't shirk from the bizarre or strange in fleshing out their characters. They were, for me, two compelling reasons to enjoy their shows. Fred Gwynne was a lovable Herman Munster and still the best actor to fill his enormous shoes. Al Lewis was suitably creepy and funny as Grandpa and the actresses playing Marilyn left no impressions on me. Butch Patrick was alternately cute and weird for the role of Eddie. I probably enjoyed The Addams Family more when I was a child; but oddly as an adult when revisiting them both, I found more to extract from The Munsters. This 2015 recording is a master stroke and the vocal version was my favorite pop record of that year!
