On what happened to be “National Train Day” at the Illinois Railway Musuem, we find EMD GP-7 #1605 in charge of the “coach train”. This locomotive at built in 1953 to replace the aging electric traction equipment that the Illinois Terminal Railroad was using at the time. The engine has the appropriate paint scheme for springtime with its bright green and yellow. Kind of reminds us of a Sprite or Starry soda can.
