-I used an old egg carton because it's what was available but old amazon brown packing paper or newspaper (no glossy paper) works just as well. If using a newspaper, 3 sheets separately balled up will do the trick.
-The pipe trick also works great in a chimney starter and allows the briquettes to burn evenly and not burn bottom to top.
