2019 has so far been a year of 'firsts' for me, and this streak has continued with my first video of a Vintage Trains tour since they've started their TOC as well as my first video of GWR Castle Class 7029 'Clun Castle' returning to the mainline after restoration. The video sees the Castle take the Cotswold Explorer from Dorridge to Oxford, via Kemble on the outward and Evesham on the return.
The video starts just north of Dorridge station taken from the footbridge by the level crossing, where 7029 gets the tour off to a powerful start! The next shot sees Clun flying along passed a foot crossing just south of Blakedown Station. The third shot sees the Castle making a spirited departure from Worcester Shrub Hill passing the several semaphores still in use on the line. The next and main shot of the day was on Sapperton bank where 7029 barks and roars passed as she curves to the summit/tunnel. The final shot sees the return on the single track section from Oxford, seen passing Fawler on the approach to Finstock.
