Gone Fishin' Bald Eagles

Bald eagles manage to feed themselves in a number of ways. They will scavenge behaving much like vultures. The less work they have to do to get their meal the better off they are. I've watched them wade in to salmon streams on the west coast to grab a dead salmon and then drag it ashore.

I've also seen them feeding on a dead deer.

But to see them swoop down and grab a living fish from a river is one of nature's great sights. And where conditions are right and there are lots of fish near the surface you often find large numbers of eagles gathering. Then it is a case of waiting and watching.
