Whispers of Atlantis: Creepy Statues, Two Rocks & Empty Sunset Beach. Perth, Australia.

An eerie afternoon in Two Rocks, Western Australia.
We wandered through the forgotten sculptures of Mark LeBuse’s abandoned Atlantis project: ghostly and uncanny valley figures of Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Olivia Newton-John, and more, scattered across Charnwood Reserve.

On the hill stands the iconic Neptune, trident in hand, watching over the town like a silent sea god. Near the shopping area, the ancient Waugals, sacred serpent spirits of Aboriginal tradition, guard the land.

As the sun slowly sank into the Indian Ocean, we walked along an empty beach with Cheeky, facing the two massive rocks rising from the water, the stones that gave this strange coastal town its name. The first rock looks like a spaceship, the second varies while you walk towards it: a gorilla, a dog, an elephant... That's real pareidolia.

A lonely place.
Ancient echoes.
And a sunset that felt like the end of something.
