NEW YORK CITY 8th Street 🇺🇸 Downtown Walk 4K

Join me for a relaxing walk on 8th Street in New York City during the beautiful fall season. We'll start in the West Village and make our way across to the East Village, passing by some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Astor Place and Tompkins Square Park.

Along the way, we'll admire the changing leaves, the bustling streets, and the unique shops and restaurants that make this neighborhood so special. We'll also take a break to enjoy the park atmosphere in Tompkins Square Park, one of the oldest public parks in Manhattan.

Here's a brief overview of what you can expect to see on our walk:

Greenwich Village: This charming neighborhood is known for its narrow streets, historic brownstones, and lively atmosphere. We'll pass by Washington Mews, a cobblestone street lined with carriage houses that have been converted into charming shops and boutiques. We'll also see the White Horse Tavern, a famous pub that was once frequented by writers and artists such as Dylan Thomas and Jack Kerouac.
Astor Place: This intersection is home to the iconic Astor Place Cube, a black cube sculpture that has been a popular meeting place for New Yorkers since the 1960s. We'll also see the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, a prestigious college founded in 1859.
St. Marks Place: This eclectic street is known for its alternative shops, punk rock culture, and vibrant nightlife. We'll pass by iconic stores such as Trash & Vaudeville and Tattered Cover Book Shop. We'll also see the historic St. Mark's Church, which was founded in 1799.
Tompkins Square Park: This sprawling park is a popular spot for locals to relax, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors. We'll take a break to wander through the park and admire the fall foliage. We can also stop for a snack or drink at one of the many vendors in the park.
8th Street: On our way back to the West Village, we'll continue to explore the unique shops and restaurants that line 8th Street. We'll also pass by some of the neighborhood's most popular attractions, such as the Comedy Cellar and the McKittrick Hotel.

Greenwich Village, or simply The Village, is a neighborhood on the west side of Lower Manhattan in New York City, bounded by 14th Street to the north, Broadway to the east, Houston Street to the south, and the Hudson River to the west. Greenwich Village also contains several subsections, including the West Village west of Seventh Avenue and the Meatpacking District in the northwest corner of Greenwich Village.
