This is my full journey attempting the GPT100 miler across the entire Grampians Peaks Trail – one of the most technical, rugged, relentlessly beautiful courses in Australia.
This video blends raw in-race footage, live commentary, and a miniature flyover map showing where I was on course at each moment. If you're planning to run the GPT50, GPT100, the Miler, the Stage Race, or you’re just curious what a 100-mile effort looks like in the Grampians, this will give you a real, unfiltered look at the course, the climbs, the terrain, and the mental battle.
The day started well: steady heart rate, good nutrition, and great company on the early ridgelines heading across Taipan Wall, Mt Difficult, and into Halls Gap. The Pinnacle climb was classic Wonderland – steep, rocky, and spectacular.
But everything changed after dark.
Zero-degree windchill, mist, fog, and some of the most technical boulder fields of the whole race. My nutrition collapsed, I couldn’t keep fluids or gels down, and things got increasingly rough through the night. Morning brought clarity – and a chance to refuel – but not enough strength to push the final 30 km. I made it to Griffin at 127 km after 26 hours and made the call to withdraw.
It wasn’t the finish I wanted, but it was an unforgettable adventure. The Grampians are brutal and brilliant in equal measure, and I’m already planning to return next year to finish what I started.
Thank you to the volunteers, organisers, runners, and especially the people who helped me through the hardest parts of the night. This community is unreal.

WANT TO LEARN HOW TO RUN ULTRAS WITHOUT PAIN, INJURY, OR CONSTANT SUFFERING?
If you watched this and thought “I’d love to run long like that — but without blowing up, without trashing my body, and actually enjoying it…” that’s exactly what I help runners do.
I’ve put everything I teach my athletes into a 4-Course Running Bundle that shows you how to:
🏃 Move better
Fix your running technique so you stop smashing your calves, quads, knees and shins — and start feeling light, smooth and efficient.
🌬️ Breathe easier
Use breathing as a tool for calm, control, and endurance. No more panting in your easy runs or spiralling heart rates.
🧠 Run with a clear head
Build the mindset and awareness tools to stay present, stay steady, and stop your brain sabotaging your runs.
✨ Train intelligently
Learn to listen to your body, adjust training week to week, understand effort and zones, fuel well, recover well, and stop burning out.
In one sentence:
This bundle helps you move better, breathe better, think better, and train smarter — so you can run far, run free, and run for years without breaking yourself.
If you want to start running with less pain, more confidence, and a lot more joy…

Gear I Used for the GPT100
🎒 Salomon 12 litre Running Pack
👟 Altra Timp 5
🩳 T8 Sherpa Shorts
⌚ Garmin Fenix 6x Pro Solar
🥤 Nutrition
I wouldn’t recommend following my nutrition approach from this race — it did not go to plan.
I struggled to keep gels and sugar mixes down in the night section, and it contributed to the wheels coming off late in the race.
👉 Stay tuned for a proper race-nutrition breakdown — I’ve got a follow-up coming with Lauren from The Fight Dietitian to go deeper into what went wrong and how to fix it next time.
