Besan ki Nankhatai – A traditional desi shortbread cookie made with gram flour, butter, and cardamom. Soft, crumbly, and loaded with flavor, this is a must-have with your evening chai.
📝 Ingredients:
Butter – 250 grams
Flour – 125 grams
Gram flour (besan) – 175 grams
Icing sugar – 250 grams
Cardamom powder – as required
Egg yolk – as required
Yellow food color – a little
🔪 Method:
Melt butter and refrigerate until firm.
Cream the butter with icing sugar using hands.
Add flour and gram flour; mix well.
Add cardamom powder, shape into rounds.
Bake at 140°C for 30 minutes.
Mix yellow food color in egg yolk, dab on top of cookies, and bake again briefly.
Cool and serve with tea!
Peach Shortbread Recipe
This Peach Shortbread is a melt-in-the-mouth treat, layered with whipped custard cream and topped with sweet peaches! Perfect for festive occasions, teatime, or when you crave a soft and fruity dessert. Follow this easy recipe by Masala Mornings and bake a buttery, elegant dessert at home.
📝 Ingredients:
Butter – 250 grams
Icing sugar – 100 grams
Egg – 1
Baking powder – 1 pinch
Vanilla essence – as required
Flour – 375 grams
Whipy whip cream – as required
Peaches – 1 tin
🔪 Method:
Cream butter and icing sugar until smooth.
Add the egg and beat well.
Mix baking powder and vanilla essence into flour and combine with the mixture.
Let the dough chill, then roll and cut into biscuit rings using cookie cutters.
Bake at 160°C for 20 minutes and cool.
Prepare custard, mix in whipped cream, and start layering: shortbread, cream, shortbread – repeat 3–4 times.
Decorate with peaches and a sprinkle of sugar. Serve chilled and enjoy!
