Instead of going to class and sparring aimlessly, it is important to break down sparring into fragments so that they become repeatable drills.
In this video, I show a simple drill where one person starts on the bottom and the other standing. The end result is to go until either person gets swept/submitted or passed.
Most of Jiu Jitsu happens within this part of sparring therefore you can never go wrong devoting some time before or after class to improve your skills within this area.
