Going back and revisiting some cool Husqvarna saws from the 1980's and 1990's. Part of being interested in saws is understanding a bit of history. The 42 is a tough act to follow. And those who have experienced these models are tough to impress as the 234-238-42-242xp-246 variants were that good. One of the unique things Spike60 brings to the table is this wide experience set of the Jonsered / Husqvarna saws over time and the ability to see how certain technical advances over time effected the evolution of saw design. So when he shows interest in particular models, there is usually a reason and/or a great story that goes right along with that interest He really likes these 242xp's :)
I happened into a stash of dead saws in that series a while back, an old dealer was selling out and had brought a bunch back to his barn .. where they sat for several years until I came along. Picked up enough bits and pieces to first make that 238 and then later the 42 that's in this video....( is it a 42?? :) ) Also where I was able to find the 3 or 4 Jonsered 920's I have and the New Old Stock top ends for my 2094! This was back in the 2008-9 time frame I think.
ANYWAY We plan to do our usual work day with interesting saws....in this case "Average saws with open ports" and I wanted to get this 42 up and running for this upcoming weekend. Along with an open port 257, 625 and possibly yet another open port 350........
